Rockwall County Hospital Auxiliary, Inc.

Volunteer Program

Volunteers at Texas Health Rockwall are dedicated men and women, teens through seniors, from all kinds of backgrounds who share a common desire to help others. Volunteers typically sign up for one three-hour shift each week and agree to an initial six-month commitment.

We are excited to announce the new formation of the Rockwall County Hospital Auxiliary, Inc. As a non-profit organization, we strive to promote the health and welfare of the Rockwall, Texas community in accordance with the mission, vision and values of a non-profit hospital auxiliary. Our auxiliary donates time and money to several charitable organizations in the area as well as provides support services within our local hospital. We are excited to announce our plans to provide scholarships to Rockwall County high school seniors in the near future!  In order to accomplish our charitable goals, we hold periodic fundraisers and require nominal annual dues for each auxiliary member.  Dues are payable upon entering the volunteer program.

There are many benefits to becoming part of the auxiliary. In addition to helping others, volunteers have the opportunity to meet new friends, learn new skills, gain new insights and achieve a sense of accomplishment.

A complimentary meal is also provided to volunteers while working at the hospital and volunteer achievements are recognized once a year with an awards dinner or luncheon. Volunteers are asked to wear a uniform while on duty so that patients, staff members and other volunteers can easily identify them. This is provided at no charge.

Application Process

All prospective volunteers must complete an application. Prospective volunteers must also sign a statement of confidentiality and a release to run a criminal background check. No one with a misdemeanor conviction (other than for a minor traffic violation) or a felony conviction can be accepted as a volunteer. Volunteers are also required to provide two references from outside of their families. Applicants will be contacted by the Volunteer Office to schedule an in-office interview. Apply now to become a volunteer at Texas Health Rockwall.

Orientation and Training
All volunteers must attend volunteer orientation and have an Employee Health Assessment completed prior to beginning volunteer placement. Training is provided for each placement area. Volunteer orientation is held once a month on the first Monday of the month, unless it falls on a holiday in which case it will be held on Tues.

Student Volunteer Program

We are excited about the upcoming Student Volunteer Program. Our launch date is Summer 2011. Stay tuned for more information on this wonderful opportunity for students to explore their healthcare opportunities.

The student volunteer program will be active only during the summer and applicants must be 16 years of age by June 1 of the program year.  Applications for the mailing list will only be taken during the months of January - March.   Student volunteers commit to work at least 36 hours during the summer months. Student volunteers accepted into the program are required to attend an orientation class and additional training opportunities are provided throughout the summer. Students are asked to wear a uniform while on duty so that patients, staff members and other volunteers can easily identify them. This is provided at no charge.

Accepted students will be notified by phone, and may be called for an additional interview. The students must commit to a minimum of six weeks of the summer and be available for one three-hour shift per week.  The Volunteer Office cannot accept applications for consideration after March 31, 2011.
